One Club INITIATIVE

The One Club Model was launched in 2017  by The Camogie Association, The GAA And The LGFA. A national video on the One Club model describes how it works, while you can access full guidelines here.

We are focused on four priority areas: Representation, Coaching, Finance & Fundraising and Communications.

The following motion was passed at the 2022 AGM: A proposal to adopt a One Club model in line with National One Club guidelines to include the adoption of a One Club Registration process through one central portal online and to continue to progress on combined coaching, fundraising/finance and communications under sub committee’s set up in 2022.

Representation

Three members of the Camogie Executive are now members of the Ballinderreen Hurling Club Executive.

Coaching

A Club Coaching Group has been appointed, chaired by Mark Ganly.

This group has equal representation from all clubs and is working to renew and implement the Ballinderreen Player and Coach Development Plan.

The Clarke’s Pharmacy Ballinderreen Hurling and Camogie Nursery was launched under the stewardship of Michael Gallagher (Club Coaching Officer).

An Introduction to Gaelic Games coaching course ran in 2022, and Damien Coleman and Damian Curley delivered a coach development event.

So far, in 2023, three One Club coaching events have taken place this year.

  • Darragh Egan launched our club player and coaching plan.
  • An athletic development workshop with Ian Jones.
  • An Intro to Gaelic Games course.

The nursery also relaunched with Martina Carr and Michael Gallagher overseeing and Clarke’s Pharmacy again sponsoring.

The Easter and Summer Cul Camps 2023 were well attended, and some of our teenage hurlers and camogie players delivered coaching.

The Club Coaching Group will work with all club coaches to enhance and support the work they do for all players in our club.

Finance and Fundraising

Player expenditure was reviewed in 2022 to ensure fairness across clubs.

The registrars have merged the clubs under one Clubforce registration portal. Thank you to Conor Crotty for his extra hours to set this up.

We want to extend a huge thank you to Breandán O’Loinsigh for the club shop’s set-up. Volunteers run the club shop with equal profit sharing across clubs. To join the volunteer WhatsApp group, contact any member of the executives.

The hurling and camogie clubs worked together to promote July’s South Galway Bay Music Festival, proceeds of which are for developing the new Community Gym, Multipurpose Room and Indoor Pitch Viewing Area. Tickets for the 2023 event are available through all members of the Executive and online. Thank you to Viviene Molloy for the creation of this year’s fantastic concert website.

The clubs will continue to host other fundraisers together to cover the running costs of the clubs. We recently held a sponsored relay marathon fundraisers with the U13-U15 boys and girls. We have also teamed up for the running of the club shop.

A new club jersey for all teams was launched in 2022, kindly sponsored by Blake Manor.

Communications

A Club Communications Group, chaired by Maura Hynes developed a new hurling and camogie website, which will incorporating both clubs and include more information on key initiatives and resources for club members.

The Facebook accounts are now merged. More to come.
