Our History
Ballinderreen Camogie Club in South Galway was founded in 1968 by the late Paddy Connell,
with the assistance of Mathias McDonagh (RIP). The club has grown from an original
membership of 30 to its present-day playing membership of approximately 150. Initially
playing teams at U16 and Junior levels, the club now caters for all age groups from nursery
to adult ranks.
Throughout the years, the club has produced players who have graced the field at inter-county level, including members from the early days such as Bernie Linnane, Philo Foy,
Bernie Larkin and Una Connell. While present-day players including Siobhan Coen (recently
retired), Emma Helebert, Lisa Casserly and Fiona Ryan currently represent the club at the
highest level, winning all Ireland and League medals. Many other players have represented
the club and continue to do so at the underage county level. While still a small club,
Ballinderreen Camogie has grown significantly guided by the ethos of nurturing all players,
at all levels. In conjunction with the continuing increase in club membership, the future
looks bright for Ballinderreen Camogie Club.
